Winning with Talent

TLG APPROACH TO TALENT ACQUISITION
At TLG, we believe that the two most critical elements in a winning homebuilding and real estate strategy are: 1. securing the best land; and 2. attracting and retaining the best talent. We also recognize that both are scarce and involve a great deal of competition. We therefore approach these two services in much the same way for our clients. Whether dealing with a land seller or a possible candidate for hire, we believe that speed, relationships and reputation matter. That's why we only take on talent searches that compliment our client's needs, and only when we believe that we can add value. As longtime industry participants, our contacts within the industry run deep, and with our talent engagements, our goal is to leverage those relationships for the benefit of our clients.
UNDERSTANDING OUR CLIENT
Because we only take on a limited amount of talent acquisition engagements, the most critical "first step" in our process involves gaining a thorough understanding of our client's needs, and most importantly, understanding the culture. Compensation matters; but how the organization "feels and acts" always wins the day. What does it take to be successful within the organization? How is success defined? What does current employee engagement look like and how will this new role be accretive to the organization? Is there currently a "winning culture" within the organization? Is there transparency and trust? Does the organization demonstrate servant leadership principals? These are just a few of the questions we explore prior to taking on an engagement. Adding value by creating strong alignment with talent is the TLG measure for success, so the better we understand our clients, the better we can help them reach their goals. Like our clients, the TLG reputation is on the line with each and every candidate, and we take it very seriously.

TLG TALENT SOLUTIONS
At TLG, we believe that how we search for talent is very important to providing strong alignment and long-term success. We therefore do not employ broad based search tools trying to cast the net as wide as possible in a "shot gun" approach. Rather we work hard to limit our discussions to candidates that we not only believe have the desired experience and skill set, but also have the intangibles necessary for success within a role and organization. There are plenty of candidates that possess the skills and experience to fill a job, but true alignment involves a much deeper set of values. Therefore, like our understanding of the client's culture, we are just as obsessive about understanding a candidate's true motivators for considering a role. Only by digging beneath the surface are we able to successfully assist our clients with building out their talent. Attracting the right talent is only part of the story. Engagement and retention only comes through a base level connection between organization and candidate.
